VCU Gladding Residence Center 1 and 2: Complete Abatement and Demolition Project

D.H. Griffin Wrecking Company was contracted by W.M. Jordan Construction for the complete abatement and demolition of four (4)-story dormitory buildings at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. In addition, D.H. Griffin was tasked with removing all footings, foundations and underground utilities on the site. DHG utilized an excavator with a specialty 66’ long reach attachment to effectively and safely demolish the buildings. The project consisted of an entire city block located immediately adjacent to roads and powerlines which required scheduled shut downs to allow demolition during those times. Extremely tight schedule with a $250,000 a day liquidated damages. DHG completed the project 13 days ahead of schedule.
