Claytor Lake Emergency Cleanup

D.H. Griffin Wrecking Co. and Griffin Services joined forces to undertake an emergency cleanup at Claytor Lake in Southwest Virginia, near Dublin and Radford. Responding swiftly, we mobilized six barge setups and crews within two weeks, deploying personnel from multiple divisions to ensure a coordinated effort. The cleanup spanned 80 days, with DHG subcontracting specialized water-based operations to DMR/B&S Equipment and Kokosing Industrial. On land, DHG utilized eight excavators and a crane to unload, haul, and sort debris efficiently.

The collected material was loaded onto DHG vehicles and transported to designated landfills. Over 75 crew members worked tirelessly to restore the lake, ensuring that operations adhered to high safety and efficiency standards. The project required extensive logistical coordination, leveraging a fleet of heavy equipment, skilled personnel, and safety protocols to complete the cleanup successfully. Running from October 18 to January 29, the effort demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental restoration and rapid emergency response.
