Demolition and removal of the historic Bayfront Center Arena in St. Petersburg, FL. Work included the isolation and separation from the adjoining Mahaffey Theater, which is still standing and in operation today.
To facilitate a cleaner demolition, the interior of the arena was stripped of furnishings and non-structural improvements. The domed roof was demolished using explosives. The remaining above-grade and below-grade work was demolished mechanically using excavators outfitted with various hydraulic attachments. The site was rough-graded and grassed/sodded upon completion.
